In this moving interview, Mrs Renou shares her experience as the mother of a multi-handicapped child with drug-resistant epilepsy.. Her story highlights the challenges of everyday life, but also the tangible impact that a suitable solution can have on the safety, comfort and peace of mind of an entire family.
Julian, a child with special needs
Julian is now 6 years old. At a very early age, around 18 months, he began to suffer his first epileptic seizures. These particularly violent seizures throw him abruptly back into bed, making the risk of injury constant.
Like many families, Mrs Renou initially had to make do with what was available: Julian slept in an umbrella bed, a temporary solution that didn't really meet his specific needs.
Given the intensity and frequency of the crises, it became clear that a safer solution had to be found, designed to protect Julian without compromising his comfort.
Safety first and foremost
When asked about the benefits of a secure bed, Ms Renou is very clear: safety is the primary benefit.
During seizures, Julian can throw himself against the sides of the bed. Thanks to the protective netting, there is no risk of a serious shock or fall. This design allows parents to sleep with greater peace of mind, knowing that their child is protected even in the event of a night-time crisis.
Convenience that changes parents' everyday lives
Beyond child safety, the bed also provides real physical and moral relief for parents.
Madame Renou emphasises one essential point: the possibility of adjusting the height of the bed. No more painful and tiring nappy changing on the floor. All you have to do now is raise the bed to the right height, which makes care easier and considerably reduces fatigue on a daily basis.
Safety is also reinforced for handling gestures, making every operation simpler and more worry-free.
Immediate adoption by Julian... and his family
When we asked Madame Renou if Julian had really adopted his new bed, the answer was without hesitation: yes, completely.
But it's not just Julian. The whole family is feeling the benefits of this change. The atmosphere at home is calmer, exchanges are easier and the constant stress is gradually giving way to greater confidence and stability.
«A revolutionary bed»
For other parents who might hesitate, Madame Renou uses a strong word: revolutionary.
This bed has literally changed their lives. It has brought them greater serenity, a weight lifted from their daily lives, and above all the chance to take time out: time to breathe, time for themselves, but also quiet time for Julian.
Julian can now lie in his bed with his toys, resting and soothing himself in complete safety.
A message of hope for families
Through this heartfelt and moving account, Ms Renou reminds us of the importance of appropriate solutions for children with disabilities.
More than just a piece of equipment, this bed represents a tangible improvement in quality of life, both for the child and for those close to him or her.
A message of hope for all families facing similar situations: solutions do exist, and they can really transform everyday life.
